Walk Through

Tomorrow's the big day!!! WOOHOO!! Jeanne and I are meeting at the house tomorrow at 2pm. I can't believe it's already here. OMG!

Good times

J and I met a new friend :) We're so excited. It's not often that we meet people who we actually enjoy being around. It's the strangest thing - she is just like J!! OCD and all. LOL. We all joke that they were separated at birth or something. "K" used to be an OTR trucker, but now she's just doing some dedicated runs or something. Kinda strange picturing a little woman driving a great big truck :) We've added her to our list for the housewarming party that my co-workers are going to throw for us. I can't wait for that :) PARTY TIME!!!!! I have a friend from high school that found me on Myspace. He lives in Missouri, so he's pretty close. I think he actually invited himself to our housewarming... lol... but the more the merrier right? I can't believe it's only 10 days until we close!!!! Holy shit!



I don't recall posting this, so in case you don't know- I am a vegetarian and have been so for 5 weeks!! I can't believe how long it's been already. I love it. I feel so much better!! Losing weight is nice too... but that's not why I did it. I saw a video called Meet Your Meat on youtube that K introduced me to. OMG!! I cried and cried and cried. I'm sure every meat production place isn't like this, but you never know. I had no clue what animals went through just so we could eat. It makes me sick to think about it. Did you know that an average person consumes 80-100 animals a year? That's CRAZY!! I'm not going to go all 'crazy PETA person' or anything, but it's a choice that I have made, and I'm proud of myself for it. I got J to switch to free-range eggs... so much more humane. But that's pretty much it. lol Milk is a struggle since I used to drink over a gallon a week. I tried chocolate rice milk, which is pretty good. K said Silk Soy is actually better than normal milk. I still haven't tried that - but I will soon. If you are interested in more info on vegetarianism, let me know. I have tons of stats. I'm branching out and trying new things. I actually ate a black beans and rice burrito!! And it wasn't half bad :) No more hamburgers or hot dogs for me :) Boca burgers are supposed to be pretty good. I need to try that too. OMG - Burger King has a veggie burger!!! And it's good :) I never knew that. J said they've had it for well over a decade. Where have I been? Oh yeah, eating their chicken sandwiches :(

They have part of the landscaping done :) Unfortunately, we were locked out tonight so we couldn't see all the new stuff. We were able to see the carpet through the window though!!!

The ugly tree in back is still up :( I'm going to call Jaymi and see if they can rip it down. It's terribly ugly. lol We got the box woods, and the bradford pear tree. We were quite tickled at that. And we love the dark mulch.

Less that 2 weeks to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We do our walk through in a week. Oh, they fixed the brick problem by the garage. So that was good.

Today is our 9 year anniversary. Can you believe it!!! 9 years =)

Um... they made a little booboo here.

Ok so, it's 2 weeks until we close, and 1 1/2 weeks until the walk-through!! :) All they have left to do is to install the air conditioner, put the tile back splash in the kitchen, put door knobs on, carpet, put the vent covers on, and landscape :) Well... then they have to fix the booboo's they've made (MANY), and clean of course. And my gosh I wouldn't want to be that person. It's a disaster area in there!!!

Jeanne picked up the washer & dryer today and it's sitting in our dining room. THE WALLS ARE CLOSING IN!!! All that's left to buy are blinds and a weed eater. Sweet!

We're sure glad we went to look today. They messed up in our master bath. We ordered a double sink instead of the standard one... and they installed the one sink counter top!! NOOO!! Shamy!

The painting is all done. Inside and out. We were wondering when they were going to finish the paint job on the side of the house. They blocked off where they are going to pour the slab that the AC unit sits on, so that should be done soon too.

Oh... all of the doors are hung up too :) The model house didn't have this one particular door up, so we were excited to see it. We have a door separating the laundry room from the garage and from the kitchen!! We thought we were going to have to hang curtain-like things so you wouldn't be able to see the W/D.

Our appliances are all in boxes in the garage, so I'm sure they're going to install those before we go again on Saturday. The lighting today was really dim in the house, so I should be able to take better pics Sat. I might even see if I can borrow the folks camera. Ooohhh!! I could get really good pictures then :)

Approximate

Jaymi said our closing date is officially October 2, 2007. Since weather plays a part in our closing (they have to level the ground, pour the driveway/side walk, landscape), and we've been having rain quite a bit, they're afraid they won't get done in time to close Sept 28th. So, we're still doing the walk through on the 26th at 2pm!! :) If the rain acts up it could push it back to Oct 4th, but she said that's just worst case scenario. Again, 3 weeks from TODAY is closing. WOOHOO!!

I can't wait to see how the house looks tomorrow. We go on Wednesdays and Saturdays now. They should have the painting done, and have some appliances and stuff... hopefully.

Confusion

We're a bit confused/irritated. We were told that Sept 28th would be closing. So, Jeanne and I both put in for our vacation days and I told the landlord we would be out by Oct 1st. Well... I received an email from the builders that our walk-through will be 9-26 and we will close on Oct 2nd. WTF? Who do we believe? Our mortgage lender who said the 28th, or out builder who says 10-2? Jaymi is going to check on it for us, but she said they always schedule the closing a week after the walk-through. So... it's looking like October again. I wish they would pull their heads out of the butts and coordinate with each other better. They should be able to give us a definite answer Monday.

The house looks fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!! They are going to paint inside this coming week and start to bring in some appliances. :) WOOHOO!!! Jeanne got our Whirlpool washer/dryer from Lowe's yesterday. One piece is dented in the front from shipment, and the other was a return - both work perfectly. But since they can't sell them on the floor, she got a killer deal!! $250. It really pays for her to work at Lowe's.

3 weeks to go

Our cabinets are in!! We absolutely love the stain they put on.

The nook is new. We are the first one's to get it :) It's over the stove/microwave.

SEPTEMBER 28th is the date!!!

We have a garage door!

And our travertine tile is done. WE LOVE IT!

All of our doors as well as the trim are in the garage... so they will be installed this coming week. Jaymi said our cabinets should be going in this week as well. I can't wait to see how everything is going to look. We didn't get the call last week giving us 30-days notice... so we're assuming it will not be the last week in September afterall :( It's looking like mid October again.
