It's Done

We picked out all of our goodies today!!! :) It only took us like 3 hours. We felt like kids in a candy store.

Our kitchen is going to be sweet!!! We're getting all black appliances and some cool extras:

  • Black granite counter tops
  • Porcelain travertine flooring
  • Stone back splash

It's going to be beautiful. We upgraded the carpet as well - soooo soft! Jaymi (our Rep at Simmons Homes) is the coolest. We had so much fun picking everything out. When we got home I saw that she found me on Myspace and added me as a friend. lol. Looking at her pics... she's quite the party animal. We would have never guessed. She said they would break ground within the month and should be finished around mid September. We didn't have enough money to add much else like covering the back patio, or extending the patio like Mom and Dad did. That will have to come later I guess. As is, we will have to save some big $$ before closing to cover our extras. I don't think I've ever had to save that much in my life. But at the same time, I've never been excited about saving - so it's good motivation. And our lender is including the closing costs in our mortgage, so I can't complain.

Jeanne and I joked - 'Well... we can't break up now! At lease for another 5 years or so.' lol We're planning on selling the house in about 5 yrs when we have built up enough equity. They're putting in a Wal-Mart super center, strip mall, lots of restaurants and extras, and a new elementary school within a mile or so of our house. Sweet!! That should raise the value considerable after it's done next year. Woohoo! Then we can pay off all of our bills... well most of them. We'll have our student loans until we die I'm sure.

Speaking of which... NSU-BA is only like 5 minutes away from the house. So when I go back to school it will be so convenient. :) One of the cheeses, Scott, made me sit down and do a 5 year plan for my career. One of them was to finish my degree. He said as soon as I finish my degree I would be able to managing a branch. My 2 bosses are the only ones with degrees at work. I'm sure the other girls will not be so thrilled with me moving up and them staying where they are, but if you want to make something of yourself these days you need a degree - right? I'm thinking... not this coming up semester, but next semester I will go back. I don't want to have any big distractions when I return... oh like getting a new house!!! So, January it is. I'm excited actually. I've been out like 6 months. When I return it would have been a year - that's long enough of a break.
